Ohhh party, how we love you so!
Not only have you followed us throughout college, but you have managed to tag along well on into our late 20’s!
And even with your constant toll on our bodies, we feel a dire need to keep this crazy relationship going! You’re pretty cool party, so we want this to work out for a while longer…
But it’s time for a little change…
We’ve all been doing it wrong!
Yea, you know what we’re talking about, Friday and Saturday late night outings, junk food (major drunk munchies), loads of booze, and very little sleep – all major players in this scene.
Why do we do it?
Cause’ it’s fun!
Clubs, dancing, good lookin’ people! It’s all there!
What’s to not like here?
But why must we keep making the same horrible decisions and keep paying for them the following day?
Time after time, we never learn our lesson!
It’s like the test rat that get’s shocked repeatedly while trying to get some tasty cheese.
How about we break this down so we can change it up a bit?
Your drinks aint’ crackin dude!
So peep this – drinks today (at least in the bars/clubs) are quite toxic.
Think about it…
Crazy food colorings, neon additives, LOADS of sugar, and major mixes of alcohol – not so great my friends! It’s no big surprise why most feel like 10 trucks hit them the morning after a night out.
You see, such drinks can place a major hindrance on the body for a variety of reasons.
Food colorings alone have been proven to impact the brain of some pretty scary levels, and to us,that’s a bit scary. On top of the food coloring factors, are the very obvious amounts of sugar in these drinks. And if you’ve been following us for some time now, you know how we feel about sugar.
It’s time to change how you go about these drinks if your in this scene…
How to do the Smarter drinks
It’s really quite simple…smart drinks = a better next day!
In other words, less junk, and more pure mixes.
Here are some better ideas:
- Dark Ales and Lagers – some local selections in Diego are pretty tasty.
- Vodka and club soda (not tonic water for the artificial sweetener reason).
- Vodka on the rocks
- Gin and soda water
- Whiskey on ice
- Red wine
- Bloody Mary’s
You see, there are plenty of alternatives out there that don’t require FD&C blue, yellow 5, or red 40. And on top of this, there is rarely ‘added sugar’ to these drinks, which makes them an awesome choice!
Now we’re not saying these are healthy, so don’t get this all twisted.
All we’re saying is that they’re better choices than kamikazes, jello shots, and hurricanes.
Ok, so that wraps up the drink issue.
Let’s move on to the next tip…
Water – is this the answer?
So a hangover is caused by many factors, but most of it derives from dehydration.
One of the reasons people get major hangovers the next day is because they pee a lot when ‘sippin’ on some drank,’ and this leads to more fluid leaving the body.
How do you fix this?
Don’t drink! LOL!
But if you must, and you want to hit the clubs, make sure to stay on top of your water intake – so damn important!
This works, as we’ve both been implementing it for years now and are proud to say that hangovers aren’t the biggest of our worries as much anymore.
Yea we party sometimes, but we always try to do it right! Nobody like a dreadful hangover!
So the key here is water – throughout the night, and before you hit the sack. Majorly important stuff here…
Food! Food! Food!
So drunk munchies can get a bit crazy…
It’s like the stomach turns into an endless pit that’s never full when drinking!
And don’t lie, we know you’ve been there
Now you can go about this two ways – healthy food, or junk food.
To be honest, both actually help with the hangover, but we obviously don’t recommend junk.
You see, we used to smash anything we could get our hands on at 2:00 a.m. when the bars hit last call, but that has definitely changed.
Now, it’s all about some protein, fat, and veggies before hitting the sack after a night out – not drive thrus at jack in the box, or taco bell.
Also, we’re really down with that new Paleo bread that has hit the health scene quite recently, so if we head out, on our return back from all the craziness, we’ll chomp down a few sandwiches before killing the lights.
Food and water before passin’ out after a night of drinking seems to really do the trick.
And these are some of our tricks!
The take home message
To sum it all up, it goes like this:
- More “natural” drinks
You can do this!
Try it out and let us know how you felt on your following morning. Also, don’t forget to drop a comment below as we always like to hear your responses to these posts.
Peace and love, and remember, if you’re drinking…take a cab!
